We may have spent the past few weeks checking out the collections of the world's leading designers – and the lack of understanding by German Princesses of people less fortunate than themselves – but now it's time to turn our well-heeled (in our dreams) attention to the southern hemisphere, because our premier fashion event, Mercedes-Benz Australian Fashion Week, has just announced the schedule for the 2015 event.

Designers who will be showing include: Aje, Alice McCall, Beauty Berry, Bec & Bridge, Betty Tran, Bianca Spender, Blue Glue Bikinis, Bondi Bather, By Johnny, Daniel Avakian, Dyspnea, ELLERY, FELLA, Galanni, Ginger & Smart, Gypsea, Han, Haryono Setiadi, IXIAH, Jayson Brunsdon, Jennifer Kate, Jewels + Grace, Kate Sylvester, Kirrily Johnston For Cooper Street, La Biquini, Lee Mathews, Macgraw, Manning Cartell, Maticevski, One Fell Swoop, Phoenix Keating, Romance Was Born, Steven Khalil, STRATEAS.CARLUCCI, SWAROVSKI, Ten Pieces, Watson x Watson, We Are Handsome, Zhivago and Zingiber.

We're particularly excited to check out MBFWA stalwarts Romance was Born, whose 2013 presentation, Magic Mushrooms – which featured and installation by Pip and Pop and live soundtrack from Paz Lenchantin – was amazing, as well as New Zealand designer Kate Sylvester's presentation, who killed it at New Zealand Fashion Week last year with her literary-inspired collection, Tartt.

We're bummed Karla Spetic isn't on the initial list – her feminine, ocean-inspired collection, presented at a swimming pool in Redfern last year – ruled, and it would have been great to see up-and-coming Melbournians – who are diverging from the Australian Aesthetic in a really interesting way – like Verner and Pageant on this year's schedule. Furthermore, Dion Lee isn't included in this initial announcement – perhaps, after a few years of presenting in both Australia and New York, he has decided to focus on the latter. However, with heavy hitters like ELLERY, Ginger & Smart and Manning Cartell all showing, we're sure it will be another strong year for Australian fashion.
