Karlie Kloss has penned a tribute to the late iconic designer, Oscar De La Renta, in Glamour magazine that gives a moving insight into the relationship between the two.
Kloss met De La Renta when she was a teenager starting out in the industry and credits the designer with helping to build her self-esteem and make her into the woman she is today.
Kloss states that they originally bonded over dance because of her classical ballet training and De La Renta's love for ballet and states that "he saw the runway as a stage to perform on. It wasn't just walking when you were on an Oscar runway".
De La Renta was very quiet about the cancer diagnosis that eventually claimed his life in October of this year, and Kloss discusses closing his shows as he got sicker, "as it got harder for him to walk, he started bringing me out with him when he took his bow.
He would really hold onto me when we did that walk. It was an unbelievable honour and every season it was our thing. Looking back, I realise he was getting frailer. But in my mind, I always saw this tan, suave man".
