How to Get Involved in Fashion Revolution Day This Friday

On Fashion Revolution Day, wear your clothing inside out, like in this Instagram post by Kuwaii, to declare where it's made.

Fashion Revolution Day occurs every year on April 24th (this Friday), to commemorate the Rana Plaza tragedy in Bangladesh: in 2013, 1, 100 textile workers were killed and over 2, 0000 textile workers were injured, when Rana Plaza, a building complex in Bangladesh, housing clothing factories, collapsed.

This tragedy awakened the global consciousness to where and how our clothing is made, and, just like how the ethical food movement has made us care about what we put in our bodies, the ethical clothing movement is starting to make us care about what we put on them, too.

But there's still a lot of work to do. Enter Fashion Revolution Day, an organisation who aim to raise awareness about how clothing is made and where it comes from, and encourage consumers to care about these things too.

Now, we know that Catalogue readers are all socially, environmentally conscious young people, who are about the global impact of how they live. Thus, we also know you'll want to get involved in Fashion Revolution Day. It's easy, too! Simply wear an item of clothing inside out displaying the tag that shows where said item is made, take a photo of yourself (#selfie excuse) and post it to Instagram with the hashtag #whomademyclothes, to put pressure on brands to expose their supply chains.
