Last month, Altitude Film announced the Amy Winehouse documentary, simply called Amy, will be released on July 3rd, 2015, almost exactly, to the day, four years since the singer's tragic death.
Now Altitude have shared the first trailer for Amy, which indicates the film is going to be a personal portrait of the singer, how she dealt with fame and the problematic nature of our obsession with celebrities.
We've pieced together everything we know about Amy so far:
Release date: July 3rd, 2015
Director: Asif Kapadia
Asif Kapadia is a BAFTA-winning English director, who is best known for his 2010 documentary Senna, which explores the life of Brazilian Formula One driver Ayrton Senna, who won the Formula One championship three times before he died in a car racing accident, age 34.
Producer: James Gay-Rees
James Gay-Rees is a producer best known for his work on Exit Through the Gift Shop, the critically-acclaimed documentary about Banksy.
Amy will include interviews with Amy Winehouse's ex-lover Blake Fielder, Mos Def, and her producer Salaam Remi.
Amy will include never-before-heard tracks by Amy Winehouse, and never-before-seen archive footage in which Amy devastatingly predicts her future, like, for example, in the trailer when she declares, "I don't think I'm going to be at all famous. I don't think I could handle it; I would probably go mad".
