Alison Hope Murray is a recent graduate of Sydney's University of Technology who is pushing, full steam ahead, into the real world by releasing her first capsule collection, that will be available online and in local boutiques, this season, winter 2015.
The collection progresses the themes Alison tackled in her graduate work, namely, in her own words "the fading of the Great Australian Dream".
While Alison's knitwear pieces utilize bright colours, and in this way reference Coogee style knitwear and iconic Australian fashion designers like Jenny Kee, the subjects these colours form is less clear - they kind of resemble post-apocalyptic landscapes from graphic novels or '80s films. The marriage of Aussie! Aussie! Aussie! colour to these desolate landscapes delivers the fall of Perfect Australia, well, perfectly, as well as hinting at themes of over-consumption and environmentalism, too. We can't wait to get our hands on some of the pieces, which you can check out below.
