The subject behind House of Cards' winter 2015 collection is one that is close to my heart right now / all of the time. We've just wrapped our latest issue – which is out on December 8th, exciting! – and we spend a lot of that issue discussing how connected to, reliant on, obsessed with and, almost, owned by social media and new technology we are. And while our use of communication technology seems harmless on the surface, it is creating long-term, physical, psychological, societal and political, side effects that we are beginning to see. (The highest unemployment rate in history, anyone? The shortest attention spans in history, anyone?)
House of Cards have taken our obsession with memes and cats and emojis and turned it into a delightful winter 2015 collection that is just a little bit frayed around the edges (literally, on our favourite pieces; the denim ones), perhaps to evoke the anxiety we're all currently feeling.
While you're looking at this collection on your (probably portable) device, maybe take a moment to consider that you would look better wearing it while hanging out with real people, rather than your Facebook friends.
In Too Deep will be in stores early next year.
